Learning Activities
Learning activities can be anything you do during the class hour that gets the student more actively involved in the learning process. It can be anything from coloring a picture related to something in your lesson to doing a drama. Unfortunately, too much of the class time is spent with the child sitting passively and listening to the teacher do all of the talking. This style of teaching may allow you to say more, but it does not mean that the child will learn more. One principle to keep in mind is that the older your students are, the more actively involved they need to be in the learning process. To help encourage you to spend more of your class time getting the students involved, we've included a list of thirty different learning activities that can be adapted to the different types of lessons that you teach.
