While the future of a church is largely determined by what is happening in the children's and youth ministries, its present stability is largely based on the ministry that is taking place in the lives of the adults who attend. Adults serve as the framework for any local church since they are the ones who are supporting its efforts with their tithes and offerings, and they are the ones who are involved in carrying out nearly all of its ministries.
In the past when life was simpler, little thought was given to many of the adult ministries. Most families in the church were committed to come, regardless of how beneficial or relevant the lessons were for the challenges of life. Things are different today. There is always something competing for the time and attention of the adults who attend your church. Most adults no longer have that same level of commitment that their parents had for going to church.
